The weekend before Thanksgiving, the kids, my mom & Taylor traveled to the Big Apple to visit Aunt Elizabeth. The weather was cold but I have to say it was the best trip to NYC ever. We visited FAO Schwartz, Toys "R" Us, The Natural History Museum and saw Mary Poppins on Broadway. Taylor and I snuck away for a hour or so to shop at "Mood". The kids adapted to the city better than most adults - Jordan's only request is that next time we go during the summer.

Taj Mahal

In 1631, Shah Jahan, emperor during the Mughal empire's period of greatest prosperity, was griefstricken when his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their fourteenth child, Gauhara Begum.[5] In her dying breath, Mumtaz Mahal urged Shah Jahan to build a mausoleum for her, more beautiful than any the world had seen before. Shah Jahan granted his wife's wish, and construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632, one year after her death.[6] The court chronicles of Shah Jahan's grief illustrate the love story traditionally held as an inspiration for Taj Mahal.[7][8] The principal mausoleum was completed in 1648 and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later.
